EXT. BASKETBALL COURT – DAY
A group of BOYS plays a heated game of basketball under the blazing sun. JASON dribbles past three ATTACKERS but gets blocked by the fourth one.
KENNETH
(Running to an opening)
Jay! I’m Open!
Without much of a second look, Jason threw the BALL over to KENNETH’s direction. Catching the ball, Kenneth dribbles twice, covering the remaining distance, jumps into the air and does a dunk.
KENNETH
(Doing a reverse punch)
Hell yeah!
(Turning to face Jason who is approaching him slowly.)
D’you see that man?! I was awesome!
JASON
(Picking up rolling ball before facing Kenneth)
Haha. Yeah man. You were.
All the boys, save Jason and Kenneth, starts walking towards each other, forming a group, as BOY1 steps forward, putting his hands on his hips.
BOY1
(Slight anger in voice with a sneer on the face)
Hey dude! Mind giving us back our ball now?
Jason and Kenneth looks up from each other and sees the group of boys waiting for them to return their ball, most with a look of disdain on their faces.
KENNETH:
(Scratching the back of his neck, saying sheepishly)
Oh. Right. Yeah. Sorry…
Jason walks towards Boy1, as Kenneth apologizes, and tosses the ball towards Boy1 as he catches it.
JASON:
(Nonchalantly)
Here.
The group of boys starts getting back into their positions after Boy1 got back the ball. Jason turns back to see Kenneth catching up to him.
KENNETH:
Hey, you hungry? Wanna go eat now?
JASON:
(Picking up their BAGS nearby, handing Kenneth his, before turning and walking in the direction of canteen, Kenneth following)
Sure.
(CUT TO:)
INT. CANTEEN – DAY
Kenneth places his bag on a seat at a vacant TABLE in the slightly crowded canteen, and takes the seat beside it.
JASON:
(Placing his bag down on the chair diagonally across Kenneth)
I’m buying chicken rice. You fine with that right?
KENNETH:
(Nodding to Jason)
Yeah okay. Thanks man.
